Aeldari (Eldar)

“What do Humans know of our pain? We have sung songs of lament since before your ancestors crawled on their bellies from the sea.”

– Farseer Eldrad Ulthran

The Aeldari (Eldar in Gothic) or the Asuryani (followers of Asuryan) as they call them-selves, are an ancient humanoid alien race whose vast empire once ex-tended the width and breadth of the known galaxy. The Aeldari Empire counted themselves masters of the stars.

The ancient Aeldari’s over-weening pride and their fall into hedonism led to a cataclysm that all but eradicated them and gave birth of the Chaos God Slaanesh.
This catastrophe tore the heart out of their civilisation, forcing the survivors to flee in gigantic starships called Craftworlds. Now they barely survive, fighting the horrors of the galaxy with ritualised discipline and consummate skill.

Cunning and technologically advanced, they regard humanity as base upstarts, little more than animals which clawed their way from the dirt of their world to crawl among the stars.

Eldar motives seem difficult for mankind to discern and, unlike the Imperium’s more brutish foes, the Eldar use subtle subversion as much as open conflict to wage war. When the Eldar strike, they do so with purpose and often surprise, moving swiftly to achieve their goals before disappearing before their foes know that these treacherous xenos came to wage war against them.
