The Maccabees are not organized according to the Codex Astartes. Their organization resembles the Space Wolves in that they are broken into twelve Hosts and an Inner Circle, each (excepting the Inner Circle) with a province of the Levantine Realm under their protection. While Imperial governors are the rule, the Maccabees remain involved in the lives of the people acting as judges, religious teachers and military protectors.
In the aftermath of the Horus Heresy, the Dark Angels Legion was broken into chapters. Most became the Unforgiven, but to one of his sons, the Lion gave the full revelation of the Truth and bid him continue the original mission of the Dark Angels – that Chapter became the Maccabees.
The Colors of the Chapter are Blue and Silver, with a Star of David as the Chapter Badge. The Star is emblazoned on their vehicles, aircraft and forms a part of the markings of their allies, particularly the Guard regiments raised on the worlds they rule.
The Chapter took extreme casualties after the opening of the Cicatrix Maladictum, when their fortress-monastery was attacked by a daemonic host. The Maccabees drove the enemy off but at a high cost. Over 900 of the brethren died in the assault. The chapter was in danger of extinction when the Herald Fleet from Holy Terra arrived with the secret of the Primaris. The remaining brethren crossed the Rubicon to take the Primaris gene-seed and the chapter was rebuilt as a Primaris chapter. Enough of the original brethren survived to transmit the chapter’s culture, faith, and traditions and the Maccabees once again stand ready to wage war on the enemies of Mankind.
Their armor is silver with blue shoulder plates with the chapter badge on the left shoulder and the tactical marks on the right, with shoulder pad trim in the company color. Veterans wear white helmets. They are a member of the Astartes Maarabi based in the Segmentum Pacificus near Satyressia Maelstrom. They are the arch-enemies of the Jieshi Is’Malal
They participated in the Gothic War, the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, the 3rd War for Armageddon, the defense against the 13th Black Crusade, the Final Defense of Medusa V, The Indomitus Crusade, and the Nihilus Crusades.
